  • Provided crisis intervention, individual and group therapy to severely emotionally disturbed and delinquent adolescents who were also sexual minority youth: gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and questioning, HIV infected or impacted; family therapy; community liaison; case management. Some of the youth had also committed sex crimes.

Clinical Nurse Coordinator

  • Administrator over DMH Med Support Program. Helped the agency begin the DMH program and was in charge of the Medication Support Program. Responsible for initiating the protocols of the program, coordinating services, providing nursing services to 40+ adolescent clients of the DMH Day Program, administered medications, community liaison.
  • Medication support and DMH computer billing. DMH paperwork, both clinical and med support related paperwork.
  • Group therapy, crisis intervention, coordination and oversight of clinical case conferences. Also responsible for agency compliance with Title 22 medication regulations. Developed a comprehensive system of handling medications for agency that was to help reduce employee medication errors. Trained agency employees and supervisors in protocols and was responsible for overseeing compliance with medication program.

Program Coordinator, Mobile Health Outreach Project

  • Co-administrator of a mobile health outreach project, a collaborative project between GLASS and Drew Medical Center that provided HIV/STD testing, health care services and social services to homeless and high risk youth.
  • I provided direct crisis intervention services, HIV/STD risk reduction education and distribution of safer sex materials to high risk populations throughout Los Angeles County; assistance with housing, food, clothing, counseling, and “on the spot” individual therapy, case management, and community liaison services as well as more conventional services to individuals who were in the position to take advantage of these services.
  • Supervised paid Outreach Workers; coordinated care with medical team.
  • Coordination and recruitment of service professionals who volunteered for the project which including a psychologist, mental health specialist in HIV, medical doctor, and several community outreach volunteers.
  • Served as the leader of the Youth Sub-Committee of the Los Angeles County Transgender Task Force. Developed educational brochure targeting female transgendered women who were prostituting and not receiving appropriate HIV and STD information aimed at protecting themselves and their clientele.
  • Fund raising, grant writing. I raised over $500,000 for the project.

Worked with & trained LA Police Department in coordinating services for homeless youth who are sexual minorities and engaging in survival sex.

Worked with the LA Transgender Task Force on improving the treatment of transgender youth by police when picked up for solicitation - sensitivity trainings and policy implementation in West Hollywood Sheriffs Department.
