Sexual Abuse/Assault Survivor's Group (SASS)

  • The Sexual Abuse/Assault Survivors Support Groups (SASS) are for women who have been sexually abused as children, survivors of incest, and women who have been raped or sexually assaulted in childhood or adulthood. The focus of the group is to discuss similar experiences and the lasting impact that it has had in their adult life.

  • The group will offer survivors a safe place to come talk about their sexual abuse/assault experiences with others who have similar experiences.

  • Participants will learn about "Accommodation Syndromes," experiencing "Damaged Goods Syndrome," stages of "Rape Trauma Syndrome," and explore similarities and differences members have experienced.

  • Participants explore the different impacts that perpetrators inflict on a survivors psychology. They will learn the differences between different grooming styles and the ways in which it makes a survivor see herself and experience different psychological symptoms.

  • Discussion of the different "illnesses" that survivors typically face, such as Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Major Depressive Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Acute Traumatic Stress Disorders, Generalized Anxiety, Social Anxiety, and sometimes Dissociative Disorders.

  • Sexual Abuse/Assault Survivors Support  Group (SASS) members offer positive support to one another while coping with different issues that arise in the aftermath of incest, sexual abuse, sexual assault and rape.

  • The SASS group is a traditional talk therapy process group, although different skills are taught during the group to help manage symptoms of PTSD or other issues that arise for group members. Art therapy, game play therapy and other therapies may also be used depending on the needs of the group members.

  • Sexual Abuse/Assault Survivors Support Groups (SASS) are closed groups. Members must meet with the therapist prior to attending group. Therapist reserves the right to disallow anyone from attending the group. The make up of member personalities in the group is crucial for member's emotional safety. Every member is asked to make a minimum of a 6 month commitment to the group. It is strongly recommended that each participant be in individual therapy as well. It is recommended, but not required.

  • Cost of the group is $35/$45 per session. SASS Group meets every week on Wednesday nights from 8pm-10pm.
